Job Opening: Sales Manager

IFA is seeking a motivated and results-driven Sales Manager to join our Advertising & Events team, responsible for driving sales and ensuring the success of our diverse array of events and advertising opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in sales, with a particular focus on event sponsorship, advertising, and strategic sales planning. This role is pivotal in leading sales efforts, growing revenue, and contributing to our overall team success.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for leveraging an integrated sales approach across all IFA products, including sponsorships, events, and advertising opportunities, ensuring clients maximize their engagement with IFA’s offerings. This position demands a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is dedicated to exceeding sales goals while delivering exceptional client experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage an individual budget while driving sales within a designated territory to ensure event success.
  • Develop and implement cross-selling strategies to maximize revenue opportunities across all IFA products, including advertising, event sponsorships, and digital offerings.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, adjusting strategies as necessary to exceed targets.
  • Proactively research and identify new sales prospects, maintaining a top prospect list at all times. Utilize various sources, networking, and market research to generate leads.
  • Lead efforts to expand the client base while focusing on retaining and nurturing existing client relationships through exceptional service and tailored solutions.
  • Educate clients on the full suite of IFA products, identifying opportunities to bundle services for increased value and revenue growth.
  • Work closely with internal teams to develop customized sales packages that integrate sponsorship, event participation, and advertising solutions.
  • Consistently exceed sales targets, actively monitoring performance and seeking opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market developments to maintain a competitive edge and identify new opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and revenue projections using CRM tools.
  • Optimize scheduling and prioritize daily sales activities, including client meetings, calls, and outreach.
  • Engage prospective clients through a variety of outreach methods, including outbound sales calls, emails, social media, and other digital platforms.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, embodying the values and culture of the company to inspire passion and excitement among clients and team members.
  • Utilize Salesforce to track efforts, update contact details, and generate accurate sales projections.
  • Provide regular sales updates to the team, including pipeline activity and revenue forecasts, and maintain updated renewal reports.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments, including Membership and Marketing, to ensure strategic alignment and maximize sales opportunities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, preferably in sponsorship, event, or advertising sales.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute successful sales and cross-selling strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills with a track record of exceeding revenue targets.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tech tools, including PC, Internet, MS Office, and CRM tools (experience with Salesforce is a plus).
  • Exceptional relationship-building and client service skills.
  • A results-driven approach with a proactive and positive attitude.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Knowledge of the events industry and current market trends.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel for events and client meetings, as necessary.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for sales, sponsorships, and events, as well as a strong ability to identify and maximize cross-selling opportunities across IFA’s diverse array of events and advertising opportunities. Previous experience in a sales management role, particularly in the events, advertising, or sponsorship industry, is highly preferred. Key Facts About this Role:

  • This position follows a hybrid work model, with employees expected to work from our Washington, DC headquarters at least two days per week and remotely for the remainder of the week.
  • Salary range is between 75 and 85k, depending on experience.
