New Paychex Survey: Technology and the Changing Workplace

Recently, in the Fifth Annual Paychex Pulse of HR survey, Paychex interviewed HR leaders from all industries. Many listed maximizing productivity, offering competitive benefits, and keeping up with regulations as their top challenges. For the retail sector, which has the most franchises and is front-facing to the public, health and safety was also a top concern.
The number one challenge of HR leaders? Attracting talent. The current labor shortage is hitting businesses hard, especially in the retail sector. Turnover is at an all-time high. And employees are no longer satisfied with anything less than an employer that supports them financially, socially, and emotionally. To compete in the job marketplace requires more than just paying good wages, but includes benefits, flexible scheduling, and a good work/life balance.
HR leaders say the solution to all these challenges is the embrace of technology. They are investing in technologies that support recruiting and hiring, enable integrated systems, and improve the employee experience.
While the pandemic and the economy have caused uncertainty, they have also created opportunities for innovation that can benefit franchisors, franchisees, and employees. Today’s technology is ideally suited for keeping franchise locations connected and consistent, providing ongoing training, and creating a healthier, safer workplace.
