New Orleans-Born Coffee Franchise Builds Multi-Unit Pipeline as Existing Franchisees Expand Their Portfolios

NEW ORLEANS – PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans has been ranked #89 on Entrepreneur’s 2026 Top 150 Franchise Brands for Multi-Unit Owners list, as a growing number of existing franchisees have expanded beyond their first PJ’s Coffee locations.

This recognition demonstrates how the brand’s proven systems are built for multi-unit ownership with flexible real estate formats, operational systems designed to streamline training and ongoing guidance for expansion planning. PJ’s differentiated coffee concept provides a scalable way for franchise owners to capitalize on growing beverage traffic across multiple dayparts as they develop teams, identify new market opportunities and expand their presence in the communities they serve.

“In my experience, one of the strongest measures of the strength of a franchise system is whether the people who know the business best choose to keep investing in its growth,” said Ryan Stansbury, executive vice president of franchise development at PJ’s Coffee. “Whether our franchisees are preparing to open a second or third café or building a larger portfolio, our job is to give them the systems, training and ongoing support they need to establish their first cafés and build on that success as their ambitions grow.”

Entrepreneur developed the ranking using each brand’s Franchise 500 score, which evaluates more than 150 data points across cost and fees, size and growth, financial strength and stability, franchisee support and overall brand strength. The publication also considered factors specific to multi-unit ownership, including multi-unit franchise fee discounts, the percentage of franchisees who own multiple units, the share of total units owned by multi-unit franchisees and the average number of units owned by each franchisee.

About PJ’s Coffee

Phyllis Jordan, a pioneer in the coffee industry, founded PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans in 1978 and demonstrated that better beans, superior roasting techniques and pure passion for the art of coffee-making mattered. In 2008, the company was purchased by New Orleans natives and brothers Paul, Steven, and Scott Ballard. PJ’s Coffee serves a wide variety of hot, iced and frozen coffee beverages using only the best quality Arabica coffee beans, as well as organic tea and fresh breakfast pastries. PJ’s Original Cold Brew™ Iced Coffee is brewed daily using a special cold-drip process that protects the flavor and strength of the beans while producing a coffee that is two-thirds less acidic – a process and technique developed by its founder and used for more than 45 years at all PJ’s locations. Bags of whole-bean coffee and single-serve cups of PJ’s Coffee are available for sale in-store and online. With nearly 200 operating stores, including four international locations, PJ’s Coffee continues to grow in the U.S. and abroad.
