Justin Ghadery – Answering The Call After 9/11

Share

September 11, 2001, changed the trajectory of my life. I was just out of high school in my hometown of Las Vegas, working as a barback at a nightclub and prepping for college at UNLV, still trying to determine what I wanted my future to look like. Then our nation was attacked. Like millions of Americans, I watched in horror as 2,977 innocent lives were taken, first responders ran toward danger most can never imagine, and families across our country were forever changed. In the days that followed, I was compelled to serve something greater than myself. I joined the United States Marine Corps, ultimately serving for eight years and becoming a combat Veteran.

I could never have imagined where that decision would lead me. The Marine Corps taught me how to lead and serve others, persevere through adversity, take ownership, and remain focused on the mission when circumstances are at their most challenging and most would quit. Those lessons have stayed with me throughout my life and career. Today, I have the privilege of serving as CEO of EverSmith Brands, a Riverside Company and private equity-backed franchise platform representing seven brands and over $600 million in systemwide revenue internationally, while also serving as an advisor to other private equity-backed businesses.

Twenty-five years after 9/11, I remain deeply grateful for those who answered our nation’s call, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and for the families who supports us along the way. It is also why serving as Vice Chair of VetFran is so meaningful to me. Military service may end, but the desire to lead, serve, and contribute never stops. I encourage my fellow Veterans to explore the opportunities available through franchising, whether through business ownership or a career in a franchise business. The skills forged through military service have tremendous value in business, and the next mission may become one you never imagined possible which was the case for me. Semper Fi!
