When September 11, 2001, changed our nation forever, I was serving as an Army Reservist. In the days that followed, my unit was activated, and like so many others, I answered the call to serve during one of the most challenging times in our nation’s history. That experience reaffirmed my commitment to serving something greater than myself and ultimately led me to make one of the most meaningful decisions of my life.

After our mobilization ended, I chose to return to active duty in the U.S. Army. What began as a response to a national tragedy became a renewed calling that lasted until my retirement. Over the course of 29 years of military service, I had the privilege of growing from a young Private to retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Along the way, I learned invaluable lessons about leadership, resilience, teamwork, and the importance of serving others—lessons that continue to guide me every day.

Retirement from the Army wasn’t the end of my mission; it was the beginning of a new one. As a Dream Vacations franchise owner, I have the opportunity to continue serving people in a different, but equally meaningful, way. I have always loved to travel, talk about travel, and hear others share their travel dreams and experiences. Now, I get to combine that passion with my desire to help others by turning their dream vacations into reality. Whether it’s a long-awaited family reunion, a bucket-list adventure, or a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, I find great joy in helping people create memories that will last forever.

As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11, I remember the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the countless service members whose lives were forever changed by that day. I am grateful for the opportunity to have served my country for 29 years and equally grateful to continue serving others through Dream Vacations. While my uniform has changed, my purpose has not. Service has always been my calling, and today, that means helping others explore the world, experience new cultures, and make their travel dreams come true.
