More than two years into the coronavirus pandemic, it’s become clear that the “new normal” for businesses will not be going away any time soon. With that in mind, we can begin to look ahead and think about which franchises will be poised for continued success in 2022 and beyond. Below, we’ve identified three franchise categories we think will experience strong growth in 2022.

Signage Franchises

The shifting guidelines and regulations for COVID safety compliance have driven a signage industry boom as stores remind people of policies and procedures such as wearing a mask, staying six feet apart, or moving down aisles in single directions. As these policies continue to change with different phases of lockdown, more signage will be required for businesses to keep up to date. As well, as communities look to inform their customers that they’re open, offering curbside pickup, or taking orders online, signs will continue to do the job. Signage franchises have seen a large surge in demand across the country of decals for companies to place on doors or windows regarding COVID compliance, and these available signage franchises will likely experience continued growth in 2022:

Online Tutoring Franchises

Our education system’s structure was not prepared for a strictly online experience, and the current environment has created a spike in searches for online programs, tutors, and software to prevent their children from a learning loss that has been called the “COVID slide”. In addition, college students and large numbers of unemployed adults are also looking for certifications that can boost their resumes as they begin to search for jobs in one of the toughest job markets the world has seen in decades.

Tutoring franchises have seen an increase in enrollment due to children struggling to succeed in their new online classrooms. K12, America’s largest virtual school, has reported an enrollment increase of 38% from 123,000 students last year to 170,000 this year and expects those numbers to continue climbing. Connections Academy, the second largest virtual school network in America, have seen their applications jump 61%. According to Chalkbeat, an American education report, charter schools across the country are also seeing enrollment spike from anywhere between 100-500% in states such as Pennsylvania, Utah, Wisconsin, Oregon, and Michigan.

If you’re interested in purchasing a tutoring franchise, the following education franchises could be great options:

Cleaning Franchises

Any business trying to stay open must follow strict state guidelines on cleaning and disinfecting the workspace. Cleaning services demand has skyrocketed, leading cleaning franchises to create a number of coronavirus-specific packages. Marketdata expected this $117 billion industry to realize a 7.4% gain in 2021 for commercial space cleaning, with sanitation franchises like:
