WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 6 – The International Franchise Association (IFA) today announced its support for the confirmation of Jovita Carranza as the U.S. Small Business Administrator. 

In a letter to the U.S. Senate, IFA Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs Matt Haller noted the importance of the Small Business Administration (SBA), saying, “thousands of American small business franchises rely on the capital and counseling provided by the SBA, and IFA welcomes Jovita Carranza’s nomination to ensure that the vital work of SBA continues uninterrupted.”

The United States is home to 733,000 independently owned franchise businesses, which directly contribute $674.3 billion in economic output, accounting for roughly 2.5% of private sector GDP. 

Carranza currently serves as U.S. Treasurer. Her nomination was first advanced by the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
