IFA RESPONDS TO HIDDEN AGENDA BEHIND PLANNED PROTESTS AT CKE RESTAURANTS

WASHINGTON, Jan. 12—International Franchise Association SVP of Public Affairs Matt Haller, fired back at special interest groups looking to destroy the reputation of Secretary of Labor nominee Andy Puzder at the expense of hard-working American and local business owners.

“It is unfortunate to see unions spending more of their members’ hard-earned money in a deliberate smear campaign against an individual and franchise organization with a stellar record of creating opportunities for advancement, providing a safe work environment for employees and customers.

“These union front organizations are simply more of the same PR stunts, and as we have seen so many times in the past, most of these protestors are paid union activists, not workers. Furthermore, these protests distract from the real issues at hand for our nation’s leaders – how to create economic growth at all levels, which is the only real solution to income inequality in America.”

Additionally, the Employment Policies Institute (EPI) released the results of a national survey conducted by CorCom Inc. of employees of CKE Restaurants (Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s) franchisees. The results show overwhelming job satisfaction among employees of the company’s franchisees, with a majority of employees strongly agreeing that they feel safe and respected in the workplace, and have ample opportunity to move up.
