IFA LAUNCHES LABOR & WORKFORCE RESOURCE SITE FOR FRANCHISEES

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2014 – The International Franchise Association today launched a new website for franchisees that provides key guidance on labor and workforce issues. The Franchise Labor & Workforce Hub serves as a resource for franchise business owners looking to learn more about current labor and workforce challenges facing employers as well as best practices for compliance.

“IFA is committed to providing local franchise business owners the most up-to-date information about labor and employment law to help make sense of its vast and increasingly challenging requirements,” said IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira. “This new website is part of our ongoing efforts to protect the time-tested and proven franchise model that continues to be a driving force behind job creation and small business ownership opportunities in the United States.

” The website will help managers, supervisors and employers understand their rights, responsibilities and legal restrictions in a variety of scenarios, including when facing a union organizing campaign within their business. The “Union Organizing 101” highlights featured topics like Prohibitions on Employers During Union Campaigns, Do’s and Don’ts During Union Organizing and Key Excerpts from the National Labor Relations Act. The Labor Relations Self-Audit page provides background for small business owners to review their own policies and prevent future problems. Additionally, the site will provide continual updates on government actions that affect labor relations in franchise small businesses, particularly changes to the “joint employer” standard issued by the National Labor Relations Board.

The website is sponsored jointly by Littler’s Workplace Policy Institute and ADP.
