IFA STATEMENT ON TREASURY DEPT. PROPOSED REQUIREMENTS UNDER THE ACA
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2013—International Franchise Association President and CEO Steve Caldeira released the following statement after the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service issued proposed regulations to implement the information reporting requirements for insurers and employees under the Affordable Care Act.
“The proposed regulations appear to be a step in the right direction by the administration. On initial review, they recognize the challenges IFA raised on behalf of the franchise industry regarding the burdensome, duplicative and time–consuming efforts franchise businesses face to comply with reporting requirements in the Affordable Care Act.
“We have begun the process of reviewing the proposed regulations and look forward to both commenting on them and continuing our long-standing dialogue with the administration to improve aspects of the Affordable Care Act . Our efforts will be focused on easing the implementation process for small business owners by simplifying and streamlining the reporting process. IFA will also continue its advocacy efforts for legislative and regulatory changes that would mitigate the most onerous and costly requirements of the healthcare law for America’s 825,000 franchise establishments so they can continue to grow and create much-needed jobs.”
