Clayton possesses over 20 years of experience as a private equity investor, chief financial officer, and management consultant. His career has been distinguished by identifying and providing growth equity and leverage to highly investible companies while delivering operational improvements to unlock increased value. Clayton is the Managing Partner of Artus Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm for which he leads all aspects of the firm’s daily operations including its investment and institutional fundraising activities to facilitate growth equity investments in lower middle market companies. His deal experience is complemented by having deep operational experience from serving in a variety of corporate finance positions, most recently as the Chief Financial Officer of DebtX Analytics, a provider of loan valuation services and MentorWorks Education Capital, a FinTech company providing post-secondary education financing.
As an Independent Director on the Board of The Cooperative Bank (TCB), Clayton serves on the Audit committee and chairs the Risk committee. He is also an invited Speaker for The Mass Technology Leadership Council’s annual Board Ready Bootcamp program where he delivers content on audit and board member financial literacy for potential Board of Directors candidates. Clayton received dual degrees in Economics and Political Science from Boston College and a Masters of Finance degree from Boston College Carroll Graduate School of Business.
