Carolyn ThurstonWith 20 years of nursing and home healthcare experience in the Triangle area, Carolyn started Wisdom Senior Care in 2006. With the support of her team, she grew Wisdom Senior Care with the mission to keep more of our seniors happy at home by focusing on improvements to promote optimal senior care and change the perception of aging. Her advocacy for providing health care for seniors, improving quality of care for seniors in their home setting, changing the perception of aging, leading changes in the senior in home care industry and successfully facilitating health care initiatives allows her to manage operational performance in Wisdom Senior Care franchise brand growth with diversity and inclusion.

Being of service to others was instilled in Carolyn as a young child by her father who served in the military. This left an indelible mark that became the driving force that cultivated her to becoming the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Wisdom Senior Care. Having an opportunity to travel with her father all over the world, she gravitated to being of service to seniors. With that passion ignited from her youth, she focused her efforts and pursued studying in the field of Health Care and Sociology at North Carolina Central University in which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. In addition, Carolyn continued her education at Winston Salem State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors.

Carolyn has been an active industry spokesperson in healthcare and the business community. She has been nationally recognized for her expertise in the field and for her positive impact and leading the industry with several recognitions. The Franchise Action Network (2019), this award is given to people who work tirelessly to protect, promote and enhance the franchise industry. She works hard with lawmakers on the Capitol to promote healthy policies for a healthy business environment.

The Women’s Business Center Award (2019) for her actions as a businesswoman in home care to foster business opportunities with franchising. She now serves on the International Franchise Association Board of Directors and past Chair of the Black Franchise Leadership Council.

Carolyn understands the importance of technology in providing in house data for business owners data driven decisions making, the role that AR and VR in preventing and assisting seniors living with Alzheimer’s & Dementia.

She also focuses significant time on fostering relationships and providing academic programs through Wisdom Health Academy to expand the capability and capacity of the healthcare field to meet the current and future needs of the aging population. She is highly active with Wisdom Missions Worldwide, a non-profit with the highest ambition to bring assistance to skilled experts (caregivers) and underserved seniors by supporting accessibility to quality services. services. Skilled experts undergo burnout and emotional abuse in their calling to serve seniors with compassionate care and when sometimes support is not available.
