Haider Murtaza

We are so excited to announce the promotion of IFA's Haider Murtaza! Haider is now serving as our Manager of Government Relations & Public Policy, and is sure to advance IFA's advocacy efforts to protect franchise businesses.

To celebrate and help IFA members get to know Haider, we asked him a few questions —

Q: Where is your favorite place to travel?

A: Anywhere outdoors. I enjoy strenuous hiking so my favorite place to travel to are National Parks. That being said, it’s difficult to choose just one since each one has its own feel. Glacier National Park in Montana, Zion National Park in Utah, and Acadia National Park (Fall season) in Maine would probably be my top 3.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I like to keep myself active in my free time. Ideally, I would be outside with a soccer ball around my feet. If I’m not out on the field, I’m likely spending quality time with friends and/or family.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you?

A: I spent my adolescent years in Pakistan, where I went to an all-boys boarding school. During my time there, I learned tent-pegging, an ancient cavalry sport.

Q: What has been your favorite part of working at IFA?

A: Knowing that you’re making a difference in the franchise community by promoting the business model – it’s a great feeling. As the son of a former multi-unit franchisee, I recognize the idea that in franchising, we are all a family. I am grateful for working with a highly motivated IFA staff and developing close relations with our members to ensure our community continues to thrive.

Q: What are you most excited about for in your new role at IFA?

A: I am excited to work more closely than before with our executive team and IFA members to help bring America’s franchises on a swift path to recovery. The small business community has suffered too much at the expense of the pandemic. The role may be different, but the urgency in the objective has remained the same.

Q: Why should franchise brands get involved in IFA’s advocacy efforts?

A: Franchise brands’ engagement is integral in driving IFA’s advocacy efforts. IFA serves as the voice for franchise brands and their franchisees in Washington and in state capitals across the country. Whether IFA is advancing pro-small business policies or rolling back policies that hamper the business model, franchise brands’ active involvement and engagement with IFA ensures that franchise businesses have a seat at the table for important government decisions that affect their bottom line.

In order to continue to protect, promote, and enhance the franchise business model, I would highly encourage all franchise brands to join IFA and get involved with our advocacy efforts.
