FORT MYERS, Fla. – Local business leader and philanthropist David Miller, a multi-unit franchise owner with Spherion Staffing & Recruiting (Spherion), recently earned recognition from Franchise Business Review as a 2023 Franchise Rock Star. This trusted publication recognized Miller in the ‘Giving Back’ category for his significant contributions to the communities his offices serve throughout Central and Southwest Florida.

“I’m honored to be recognized by Franchise Business Review as a 2023 Franchise Rock Star, and thankful for Spherion and the platform it provides me to give back to our local communities,” said Miller, franchise owner of Spherion in Fort Myers, Lakeland, Leesburg, Naples, Ocala and Sarasota. “Most importantly, I’m grateful for my entire team and their desire to give back to our communities, not only during challenging times but year-round.”

Miller was selected from more than 36,000 franchisees, representing 360 brands that participated in Franchise Business Review’s research. Notably, Miller and his team were recognized for organizing multiple giveback initiatives across their six markets in Florida. These initiatives included a back-to-school campaign during which his offices donated 180 backpacks filled with school supplies to local families in need. Miller and his team also packed and handed out 500 bagged lunches for disaster relief workers who were helping to repair damage caused by Hurricane Ian in 2022. Additionally, they worked closely with an American Legion location that was severely damaged by the hurricane to clean up the aftermath, and Miller graciously made a monetary donation towards rebuilding the organization.

“We are incredibly proud of David and his team for going above and beyond to give back and better the communities in which we work and live,” said Kathy George, Spherion’s executive vice president of franchise development and growth. “On behalf of Spherion, we congratulate him and the entire team in Central and Southwest Florida for this well-deserved recognition.”

Franchisors nominated their Franchise Rock Stars in one of eight categories as franchisees who set admirable examples when it comes to leadership, business acumen, financial and professional success, and community contributions.

Spherion brandishes the “power of local” through a network of independent and empowered franchisees. Each Spherion franchisee enriches their communities by connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—and when they’re successful together, their investments flow back into the neighborhoods where they live and work. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
