IFA STATEMENT ON DOL OVERTIME RULE

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24— The International Franchise Association (IFA) released the below statement following the Department of Labor’s (DOL) announcement on overtime rule, which sets a new salary threshold at which a business would be required to issue overtime pay.

“The IFA commends the Department of Labor for issuing a sensible approach to expand overtime eligibility,” said IFA Senior Vice President of Government Relations & Public Policy Matt Haller. “This move gives business owners across the country the clarity and certainty needed to plan for their future, and gives many employees more money in their pocketbook.”

In 2016 IFA, representing the interests of more than 733,000 franchise establishments that support nearly 7.6 million direct jobs, submitted comments to DOL urging for a more reasonable increase to the salary threshold that would consider the concerns of small business owners.
