IFA MAKES “PLEDGE TO AMERICA’S WORKERS”

Franchise Community Pledges to Hire, Train, and Upskill More Than 250,000 Workers Over Five Years

(WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 22) – The International Franchise Association (IFA) today signed the Pledge to America’s Workers to join the President’s initiative to create more jobs and strengthen the American economy.

IFA pledged to hire, train, or upskill more than 250,000 workers over the next five years through its member brands and their franchise owners.

“This pledge highlights the franchise sector’s commitment to hiring, training, and upskilling American workers,” said IFA President and CEO Robert Cresanti. “America’s locally-owned franchise businesses are one of our country’s largest job-training programs – millions of Americans learned the foundational skills for successful careers in franchise businesses of all types. Thanks to the Trump administration’s commitment to improve the lives of all working Americans by increasing pay and reducing burdensome regulations, with this commitment, IFA through our member companies will work to enhance career opportunities for 250,000 American workers.”

As part of their onboarding processes, franchise businesses work to train new employees on both basic business skill as well as the franchisor brand’s proprietary business systems and products.

Brands’ high standards of operation necessitate rigorous training and upskilling of American workers, with a particular emphasis on soft skills that are missing in most education programs: communications, multitasking, teamwork, basic technology capabilities, personal accountability, sales, and customer service. In franchise businesses, inexperienced employees learn how to manage people, money, products, and services through documented training processes.

For millions of Americans, these franchise-taught skills were some of their earliest exposure to business operations, customer or client interaction, and other skills that form the foundation of their professional careers.
