IFA SOCIAL HIGHLIGHTS MOTHER AND FATHER ENTREPRENEURS

WASHINGTON, May 8, 2015—The International Franchise Association is launching a campaign to honor mother and father franchise owners in honor of two of America’s most popular celebrations – Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

The stories featuring mother and father franchise business owners will be posted across IFA’s social platforms including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Their stories will be shared via anecdotes from their children, highlighting the many life lessons learned as a child of a small business owner. In addition, many of the children expressed finding inspiration to pursue small business ownership in the future, with some having gone into business with their parents already.

Two Men And A Truck Chair of the Board and IFA Chair Melanie Bergeron shared her how her mother, Mary Ellen Sheets, Two Men And A Truck founder, has helped shape her business principles. “My mom has always had a heart for taking care of others. Working with our franchisees to take care of our customers allows us to do just that! My mom is also a grandma which makes me think of our core value, the Grandma Rule® — to treat everyone as if it were your grandma, with dignity, respect, and patience.”

The franchise industry brings opportunity to so many – providing jobs to communities, spurring economic growth and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. There are currently more than 780,000 franchise establishments that support nearly 8.9 million direct jobs and produce $890 billion of economic output for the U.S. economy.
