IFA APPLAUDS RULING STRIKING DOWN NLRB POSTER RULE
WASHINGTON, May 7, 2013—The International Franchise Association praised the ruling today by the U.S. District Court of Appeals for Washington, D.C. that strikes down a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) rule requiring businesses to post notices regarding union membership.
“We applaud the court of appeals for recognizing that the NLRB exceeded its authority when it ruled that employers could be punished for failing to post one-sided notices of workers’ rights,” said IFA President & CEO Steve Caldeira. “Today’s ruling sends a strong message to the NLRB that all regulations should be fair and balanced and protect the rights of both employees and employers.”
IFA is a member of the management committee of the Coalition for a Democratic Workplace, which was a party to the case and works to ensure balanced workplace policy and protect employees’ rights to make informed, coercion-free decisions about association in the workplace. See decision here.
