IFA STATEMENT ON COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION REFORM FRAMEWORK

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28, 2013 — International Franchise Association President & CEO Steve Caldeira released the following statement today regarding the comprehensive framework released for immigration reform by bipartisan Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), John McCain (R-AZ), Robert Menendez (D-NJ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), and Chuck Schumer (D-NY):

“IFA strongly supports the outline for immigration reform issued by the bipartisan group of Senators. While there are many details yet to be decided, the basic framework is a significant step toward much-needed comprehensive immigration reform. IFA will work to help generate public support for immigration reform that builds on the principles of this initial proposal. With service sector jobs projected to grow one and a half times faster than non-service sector jobs over the next decade, the IFA looks forward to a workable solution that allows legal immigrant workers into the United States, so that our industry can meet the need for lower-skilled workers where franchise businesses are concentrated, such as restaurants, hotels, and service-related businesses.”
