WASHINGTON, Feb. 4, 2010—IFA President & CEO Matthew Shay has been elected Treasurer for the Small Business Legislative Council, a coalition of over 50 trade and professional associations that share a commitment to the future of small business.
“Being involved in the Small Business Legislative Council is a great way for IFA to leverage the strength of our membership with other organizations in which we have so many issues in common,” said Shay. “As small businesses face a number of issues in Washington, D.C. such as new tax laws, healthcare reform and energy policy, it is critical that we work together to ensure that policy makers understand the impact of new laws and regulations on small businesses.”
As Treasurer of the SBLC, Shay will work with the coalition leadership to set the agenda for the coalition and will move into the chair position in two years. IFA works with a number of other business organizations as well, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce where Shay participates in the Committee of 100, a group of top business association executives.
