Nov. 4 Elections Important for “Joe the Plumbers” and other Small Business Owners
WASHINGTON, DC, Oct. 17, 2008—The International Franchise Association (IFA) today continued its “Get out the Vote” effort among its members by urging all the “Joe the Plumbers,” “Barbara the Cookie Shop Franchise Owners” and “Bob the Auto Repair Shop Owners” to make their voices heard by voting on Nov. 4.
“Joe the Plumber took a stand and got involved,” said IFA Vice President of Government Relations David French in a letter to all members, referencing the last presidential debates. “This fall, make your voices heard, and make sure both presidential candidates—as well as members of Congress—hear from you. On Nov. 4, all franchise business leaders, their employees and customers have an important decision to make. A decision that will impact how they meet payroll, create new jobs and opportunities and provide affordable health insurance to their employees. Make your voice is heard on Nov. 4.”
IFA members operate in over 100 industries including automotive, food, personal services, lodging and real estate. Over 900,000 franchised businesses in the United States provide for 21 million jobs and contribute $2.3 trillion to the economy.
French said that members can learn more about the elections and the candidates by accessing important recourses on IFA’s unique Web site www.franchisingvotes.com. In addition, members can learn more about the candidates’ viewpoints on key issues by reading this month’s issue of Franchising World, which includes an exclusive where the candidates answered IFA questions.
