December 2007 Franchising World

The International Franchise Association’s flagship publication, Franchising World, has reaped more awards for its outstanding graphic design. Honored each year since 2002, the magazine earned recent recognition for design excellence. IFA also garnered kudos for the association’s Membership Handbook.

“Congratulations to the magazine’s staff and especially to Graphic Artist Catherine Marinoff, whose imaginative talents bring a fresh look to IFA publications,” said IFA Pres. Matthew Shay. “The visual images help to effectively illustrate the magazine articles and the benefits of association membership.”

The competition is presented by Graphic Design USA and sponsored by Adobe Systems Inc. Winners were selected from more than 10,000 entries nationwide.

The awards are for the IFA Membership Handbook that was distributed earlier this year, the May and August 2006 issues of the magazine, as well as the January 2007 edition.

The American Graphic Design Awards competition is sponsored by Graphic Design USA, which has conducted the program for more than 25 years. The magazine won out over thousands of entries, of which less than 12 percent were named winners. The competition honors new, outstanding graphic design, advertising art and marketing communications created by American graphic designers and art directors.

IFA received the first award for the February-March 2002 magazine titled, “Celebrating Franchising’s Success.”

Franchising World was conceived from an idea by Duraclean’s Irl Marshall CFE, who served as IFA chairman in 1986. It began as a tabloid and evolved into a magazine. In 1989, the association launched Franchise Opportunities, a national news magazine. The publication was the forerunner of today’s four-color Franchising World.
