September 2007 Franchising World

On July 12, the International Franchise Association’s political action committee, FranPAC, hosted a fundraising breakfast for U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot (R-Ohio-01). The event was a unique opportunity for many franchising business leaders, including IFA Chairman Mike Isakson, to visit with Chabot at the association’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Since being elected to Congress in 1994, Chabot has been a good friend of franchising. He serves as the senior Republican on the House Small Business Committee and also as a leading member of the House Judiciary Committee. The breakfast discussion topics ranged from an update on Chabot’s next election race to his thoughts on key IFA priorities in Congress such as the fate of comprehensive immigration reform and the so-called Employee Free Choice Act.

FranPAC funds are raised through the voluntary contributions of individual members of the franchise business community. The fundamental goal of the political action committee is to support the election campaigns of pro-franchising candidates for Congress.
