GEORGETOWN, Texas (March 29, 2019) – Sport Clips Haircuts was recognized by HillVets as one of its top six  "Businesses that Support Veterans" awards at a gala Thursday in Washington D.C. Gordon Logan, Sport Clips founder and CEO and a U.S. Air Force veteran, was on hand to receive the award on behalf of the franchise.

"HillVets is an organization that empowers veterans to begin and advance in civilian careers, and part of the reason we received recognition for work with veterans is due to the VFW’s Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship Program we established in 2013. We're grateful to our team members, clients and product partners for the work they do to raise more than a million dollars each year to support Help A Hero scholarships and help U.S. service members get the education and training they need for civilian careers," says Logan. "It's an honor to be acknowledged as a business, but the greater reward is being able give back and say 'thank you' to the men, women and families who serve."

Businesses that Support Veterans are recognized by HillVets for the significant portion of their work to ensure veterans, military service members, and their families have a number of diverse resources and opportunities available to them. HillVets notes "these companies recognize the challenges veterans face during the transition into civilian life, and as such, have created impactful and purposeful programs that provide a benefit to the veteran community."

Sport Clips has 45 veteran franchise owners and offers a 20 percent discount to veterans looking to join the brand. Sport Clips was nominated for the award by the International Franchise Association (IFA) for which Logan is past president and current member of the VetFran Committee. He also serves on the VFW Foundation board and on the advisory board for USO Fort Hood. The Help A Hero Scholarship program he championed has provided some 1,300 scholarships totaling $5.7 million for service men and women and veterans pursuing education and training goals. Sport Clips is also a national sponsor of the Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation, which provides dream flights in Boeing Stearman biplanes for seniors and veterans living in long-term care facilities. Sport Clips also sponsors the Aleethia Foundation, Gratitude Initiative, Honor Flight Austin, and R.O.C.K veteran program.
