International Franchise Association Statement on 2022 Midterm Elections

November 17, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC, Nov. 17, 2022 – The International Franchise Association (IFA) today released the following statement on the outcome of the 2022 midterm election:

“IFA congratulates U.S. House Republicans on winning control of Congress and all of the winners in this year’s elections on the national, state, and local level. We look forward to working together to advance policies that protect the franchise business model and promote further growth and entrepreneurship opportunities,” said Matthew Haller, president and CEO of the International Franchise Association.

As more races have been decided, one thing is clear: the PRO Act has been rejected for good. With a divided government, we need Congress to stop the regulatory overreach of the Administration, specifically the National Labor Relations Board joint employer rule that would destroy the franchise business model. We are hopeful that the newly elected officials will pursue policies that address pricing pressures and the labor shortage to help advance opportunities in every community around the nation.”
