Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

2020 has already seen a succession of world-changing events - a global pandemic, economic recession, and a critical time of protest against discrimination, social injustice and systemic racism - that has affected franchisees and their employees in ways for which none of us were prepared. HR teams are working hard to create a new playbook to respond, but it’s the field support and operations teams that play a crucial role in guiding franchisees on how to operate their businesses amidst tension and turmoil.

We’ll explore what operations professionals can do to support and communicate with franchisees who are trying to manage their business in the face of discrimination, including how to:

  • Flag potential issues happening at the franchisee level, from legal concerns to the emotional impacts on franchisees and their staff
  • Help franchisees deal with protesting, looting, and social injustice
  • Share best practices for managing front line staff, from conveying corporate policies (like social media) to supporting employees in their efforts to be active in social causes that matter to them
  • Ensure brand culture and values, particularly around diversity and inclusion, are adopted and followed by franchisees and staff

Session Summary
  1. Facebook Marketing for Franchise Recruitment

  2. Maximizing Broker Relationships: There is an investment of time and money when you start working with Broker Groups.  Hear from a panel of successful brands what it takes to make the investment not only payoff but become a major part of your recruitment strategy.

  3. Talking Candidates through Uncertainty – before and now in a time of disruption: When deciding to invest in a franchise opportunity, candidates always have and always will have uncertainties related to external factors. Between stock market fluctuations, the pandemic, upcoming elections, racial tensions, etc., it seems there are more reasons for candidates to be cautious about moving forward in the sales process than ever before. The question is: How do you help candidates overcome qualms related to all of these “unknowns?” Are there right and wrong things to say? Is there a strategy, or is it simply more of a waiting game? During this Breakout Session, franchise development executives from high-growth brands in three different segments will share their approaches in helping candidates get past the fears and continue to close deals during perhaps the most ambiguous time in our history.
  4. The Proven Sales Process- Deconstructed: Whether you are establishing your sales process as an emerging brand or reevaluating each step to improve your closing ratio, our panelists with deconstruct their franchise sales process step-by-step and discuss how the changing marketplace, competition, candidate motivations or their brand's strengths or weaknesses brought on by the pandemic has affected how potential franchise partners are being educated, vetted and ultimately awarded a franchise.
