In 1762, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, came up with an invention that changed dining forever. As the story goes, he was playing cards and did not want to leave the gaming table to eat.  With a serving of roast beef placed between two slices of bread, the Earl created a complete meal he could eat with his hands. Brilliant! The Sandwich was born. Some 250 years later, EARL OF SANDWICH® restaurants have taken that idea and crafted it into a made - to -order, freshly baked Sandwich like no other.

The Partners

In 2004, Lord John Montagu, the 11th Earl of Sandwich and his son, the honorable Orlando Montagu, direct descendants of the inventor of the sandwich partnered with Robert Earl, founder and CEO of Planet Hollywood, to launch the EARL OF SANDWICH® restaurants.

We offer a high-quality, fast-casual dining experience with a diverse menu selection for all tastes. Our hot sandwiches are made with traditional family recipes, melding the flavors of generous slices of the finest meats and cheeses as the Artisan bread is baked fresh for every sandwich. Our namesake invented The Sandwich, but we couldn't stop there! We offer breakfast items, warm soups and fresh salads, and in keeping with the Earl's original inspiration of "the portable meal," we've added fresh wraps to our menu as well.
