IFA Urges No Vote on New Jersey Anti-Hospitality Bill

The International Franchise Association (IFA) today urged a “no” vote on New Jersey bill A-1958, which the organization warns would undermine the franchise business model in the state. The legislation would insert the state government into private franchise contracts, promote litigation, and diminish brand standards – the foundation of the franchise model. The bill is being considered today by the New Jersey Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee.

The International Franchise Association (IFA) today applauded the establishment of the Congressional Franchise Caucus, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress formed to promote and educate about the community contributions of local franchise businesses across the country. The Franchise Caucus is co-chaired by U.S. Reps. Kevin Hern (R-OK), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Beth Van Duyne (R-TX), and Tony Cárdenas (D-CA).

International Franchise Association Urges Arizona Legislature to Oppose Harmful Franchising Legislation

IFA today sent a letter to Arizona Speaker of the House Ben Toma and members of the Arizona legislature urging their opposition to HB 2404, legislation that “would create the most onerous franchise law anywhere in the United States,” harming Arizona’s 19,000 franchised businesses and any future franchise opportunity.

New California Joint Liability Bill Will Destroy Local Franchised Restaurants

The International Franchise Association (IFA) today released the following statement on the introduction of California AB 1228, the Fast-Food Franchisor Responsibility Act, legislation that would establish joint liability between California quick-service franchise brands and their independent franchisees.
