www.cia.gov (Click on World Factbook/Click to select a country) See for socio-political and economic information on individual country markets. Does not focus specifically on franchising, but has excellent, frequently updated information on important elements such as economic conditions, socio-economic trends and political risk. www.state.gov/countries The Background Notes generated by the U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide provide a good picture of the market and its people. Good information, regularly updated on the political sector circumstances, economic and commercial developments and the quality of the relationship with the USA. www.export.gov A good source of market research, trade events and trade leads. In countries where franchising is considered a “best prospect”, considerable information can be obtained on the sector, its performance, opportunities and key players. This site also provides contact information for the U.S. Department of Commerce offices in the U.S. and around the world. www.countryrisk.com The mission of Country Risk: "..to serve as a resource to those needing to know the stability of distant countries, including global businesspeople, development professionals, academic researchers, journalists, and the interested public."
