MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL EXECUTIVE TO JOIN FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON, Feb.14—Marriott International Inc. Vice President of Lodging Development Select Service and Extended Stay Brands Liam Brown has been named to the International Franchise Association’s Board of Directors. He will assume the position Feb. 17 at the conclusion of the IFA 49th Annual Convention in San Diego.
Founded nearly 50 years ago, IFA is the oldest and largest organization that works to protect, enhance and promote franchising. Its membership includes more 1,250 franchise systems, 11,000-plus franchisees and more than 500 firms that supply goods and services to the industry.
Brown began his career with Marriott International in 1989, and has held multiple positions with the company, most recently serving as senior vice president for the Fairfield Inn brand. Prior to that, he was vice president of franchising for Residence Inn and TownePlace Suites. Brown also served in multiple general manager and regional positions across Marriott’s Courtyard, Residence Inn and Full Service portfolio.
A native of Dublin, Ireland, Brown received a business degree from Trinity College and a master’s from the Robert H. Smith School of Management at the University of Maryland.
