Jason A. Straczewski Named Franchise Association’s Government Relations Director

WASHINGTON, D.C., March 13 – The International Franchise Association has named Jason A. Straczewski as director of government relations. He will assume his duties March 17 at the leading trade group that represents franchised small businesses across the globe. The 48-year-old association has a membership that includes more than 1,300 franchisors, 10,000 franchisees and 500 suppliers of products and services to the rapidly-growing industry.
According to a 2008 study conducted for the IFA Educational Foundation by PricewaterhouseCoopers there are more than 900,000 franchised establishments that are responsible for creating 21 million American jobs and generating $2.3 trillion in economic output.
Before joining IFA, Straczewski gained several years of experience dealing with a variety of workforce development issues. From 2006 he was director of employment and labor policy in the Human Resources Policy Department at the National Association of Manufacturers dealing with employment standards contained in the Civil Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act and labor management issues.
Straczewski also managed NAM’s Key Vote program, served as project manager for its official voting record and as an editorial assistant for the its directory to Congress and weekly newsletters.
Prior to NAM, Straczewski worked at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor of arts degree in political science from Gettysburg College, Pa. in 2001. He resides with his wife in Alexandria, Va.
