The U.S. Franchise Trade Mission to India, including stops in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore: is brought to you by IFA and Franchise Times, and is designated as a Certified Trade Mission by the U.S. Commercial Service.  From December 7th to 12th, 2014, a select group of franchise companies will receive valuable briefings, research and the opportunity to meet potential Indian franchisees.  Itinerary items include country briefings with U.S. Embassy officials and U.S. Commercial Service officers, meetings with government ministries, site visits, one-on-one matchmaking meetings with pre-screened local investors.

As recently as 2009, franchising was still seen as emerging in India, but has grown steadily over the past five years. According to the US Commercial Service, there are 45,000 franchise outlets in India with a value of $13.4 billion. Those numbers are expected to grow to 168,000 units by 2017, worth $50.4 billion. Retail is the largest franchise sector, worth $10.6 billion, followed by food and beverages, ringing up sales of $1.2 billion. India now boasts the largest middle class in the world and has no franchise specific laws.  India offers an increasingly well-traveled population, many of whom have been educated in the U.S. and are familiar with and welcoming of U.S. brands.
