A Message From Dina Dwyer-Owens, VetFran CFE Chair

It is because the community of franchising wishes to honor those who have so bravely served our country that a special program called VetFran was created. With the cooperation of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Veterans Corporation, and the U.S. Small Business Administration, and with outreach initiatives to our country's military and veteran organizations, the program continues to expand. More than 200 participating member companies have agreed to help qualified veterans acquire franchise businesses by providing financial incentives not otherwise available to other franchise investors. Veterans will get the "best deal" from these companies.

I was offered an opportunity to lead VetFran, and as I accepted, the outpouring of support from the franchising community was amazing. Along with that, it further fulfilled the wonderful memories of the mission my father, the late Don Dwyer, started in August 14, 1991 during the Gulf War. At that time, more than 100 companies came on board as participants in the program to further the dream of veterans having an opportunity to control their own destinies through our free enterprise system.

IFA's Web site, www.franchise.org, has a wealth of information about the VetFran program, with the participating members included on the site. We continue efforts to promote the initiative in consumer and trade press outlets, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Small Business Administration, Congress, and military organizations, and encourage your company to take part in this very important effort. For a listing of the franchise companies participating in the Program, please view our Franchise Directory.
