PEPSICO EXECUTIVE JOINS FRANCHISE ASSOCIATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON, Feb. 8, 2010—Peter Popovich, vice president of Industry Relations for PepsiCo Foodservice, of Louisville, Ky. has been elected to the International Franchise Association’s Board of Directors.  He will assume the position Feb. 8 at the conclusion of the IFA 50th Annual Convention in San Antonio.

In his position with PepsiCo Foodserce, Popovich is charged with developing and executing the strategic vision and presence within the restaurant and hospitality industry for the division’s brands, which include Pepsi, Frito Lay, Quaker, Tropicana, Gatorade, IZZE and Naked Juice.

Prior to assuming his new role, Peter was vice president of Beverage Development for KFC, Long John Silver’s and A&W restaurants. He was responsible for developing the beverage and food businesses across 7,000 restaurants. Peter also held several key sales positions within the PepsiCo Foodservice division over the last 10 years. As a 20-year veteran, Peter also held several key sales and management positions across multiple channels while in the Pepsi Bottling system.

Peter serves on the Board for the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, as well as the Advisory Board for the Restaurant Leadership Conference. He is also a member of the Women’s Foodservice Forum, the Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance, the Society for Foodservice Management and manages PepsiCo’s partnerships with the International Pizza Expo, the Asian American Hotel Owners Association, National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators & Developers, the National Automatic Merchandising Association and the School Nutrition Association. 

Before joining Pepsi, Peter served in the U.S. Army for five years and left as a Captain. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy where he was the Captain of the Academy Basketball team in his senior year.
